The National Cadet Corps is Youth Wing of Armed Forces with its Headquarters at New Delhi, India. Its motto is “Unity and Discipline” (Ekta Aur Anushasan). The NCC in India was formed the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. It is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The NCC has a total of 765 units in India which encompasses 586 districts in the country, covering 6985 schools and 5159 colleges. The four Cardinal principles:

Aims of NCC

1.

To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.

2.

To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces

3.

To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.

NCC (ARMY WING)

  1. NCC ARMY WING today has around 13 lakh cadets in the country. It had started with just 20,000 in 1948. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was once an NCC ARMY WING cadet. Unlike NDA and IMA, girls are allowed to join NCC Army wing and are treated at par with boys.
  2. NCC 'C' Certificate holders in age group 19-25 years are required to compete in UPSC examination for commission though IMA (Indian Military Academy) or OTA (Officers Training Academy).
  3. 32 Vacancies are reserved in regular course of IMA for 'C' Certificate holders] irrespective of position in merit, subject of passing UPSC examination and clearing SSB interview.
  4. NCC Special Entry Scheme for SD Wings graduates in OTA in group 19-25 years with 50% marks, through DDG of states for direct interview (SSB) every year. The Cadets are exempted from CDS examination conducted by UPSC. The Cadets should have 'A' or 'B' grade in 'C' certificate examination.
